On this transformative journey, exploration and adventure have always been a constant in my life. Every experience, no matter how big or small, has something to teach you, and I embrace them all!
Following in my father’s footsteps, I chose to enter an entirely new career path, trusting that with his guidance and support, I would thrive. It was unlike anything I had ever done before. As I entered the real estate industry in 2017, I couldn't help but feel nervous about what the future holds. Despite my hesitations, I knew this was something I had to try.
My father, Loren, and I have always been close. Growing up in Oklahoma, we lived the standard country lifestyle, working on our small farm and fishing to pass the time. From an early age, he taught me to have a great work ethic. We think alike, so it is easy to work together. As an avid skier for years, he introduced me to the sport and many other outdoor activities. Our vacations were always filled with adventures, camping, skiing, hiking – anything to make memories. Often, those trips led us to Colorado.
They have a saying, “You only visit Colorado so many times before you move here.” And that’s exactly what our family did some 10 years ago. We fell in love with the location, the mountains and the endless potential for adventure.
Inspired by our many incredible trips, I spent several years drawn to the thrill of adrenaline-inducing activities, which led me to work as a whitewater raft guide during the summers. Then, during the winter months, I worked at a ski resort, indulging my love for the sport and the beauty of the mountains. Over time my interests evolved to working in the culinary world, honing my skills in high-end Denver restaurants.
However, as time went on, a desire for stability began to outweigh my pursuit of adventure. While these jobs were undeniably exciting, the importance of being close to my family grew ever stronger. To sustain this lifestyle, I found myself constantly on the move, never able to lay down roots. I returned to Woodland Park and began working at a mechanic shop, contemplating my next move.
This period of uncertainty turned out to be a transformative phase in my life. Around this time, I met my now-wife, Sarah. By chance, we were both living in our mothers' houses, situated just across the street from one another. Sarah, too, was experiencing a transitional phase, and when our paths crossed, we had an instant connection.
When my father moved here, he retired, but over time realized he didn't want to sit idle. Real estate presented an exciting opportunity, and he decided to dive into it. Little did he know that he would fall in love with the industry. With 40 years of experience in insurance and financial services, his skills translated perfectly into real estate. He was thrilled the day I decided to work alongside him. Truthfully, I wasn’t sure what to expect in my first months.
At my very first showing, I sold the home – it was unheard of! This set me off on the right foot. Within my first year, I successfully helped 23 clients find and purchase their new property. Much like my father, the moment I experienced my first win, I was hooked! Real estate has become our true passion, helping our clients, solving problems and making a genuine difference in the lives of those we serve.
It makes me proud to work alongside my father and continue building this business together. Sarah also works with us in a crucial role, supporting us in caring for our clients. While I may not have always known where my future was heading, I am grateful I embraced the journey, letting each opportunity lead me forward.
Through real estate, I have experienced many incredible changes in my life that I am thankful for. Perhaps the greatest gift is the many relationships we have cultivated with people in our community.
